Case Study - Catholic Healthcare Limited
Client: Catholic Healthcare Limited
Development, Implementation and Evaluation of Management and Leadership Program and Change Readiness Program
Catholic Healthcare Limited (CHL) owns, manages and provides services in residential aged care facilities, community care and public and private healthcare. The Western Region of CHL comprising 1 public hospital, 1 private hospital, 6 aged care facilities and 2 community care providers requested Communio to develop a program to extend the competence of their managers, allied health staff and registered nurses.
Specific approaches were developed to target each of the groups and delivered on site over a period of 6 months. Strategies included:
* face to face delivery
* reflective learning activities
* individual coaching
* action learning projects
* internal and external guest lecturers.
All participants underwent training in Clinical Process Improvement methodology and undertook a work based improvement project. These projects were the cornerstone of learning as it required the participants to:
* negotiate priority projects with their line managers
* co-opt a team to undertake the project
* coordinate the project and instil knowledge about the process
* report back both business improvements but more importantly personal learning’s as a result.
To supplement the program a series of short sessions were delivered on site to all facilities to maximise the exposure of all staff to the concepts being targeted.
Pre and post test evaluations were conducted as well as satisfaction assessments. The program was well evaluated as targeting specific needs, challenging participants to review their practice and improved business outcomes as a result of the projects undertaken.
